again, here's Sugimori's actual quote:

this is especially hilarious because you started with accusations that I was "making up my own stories with my inferences"

and yes, the concept art is pretty good evidence of the designers intentions but like I said, tamers are literally ingame and even carried over the whip/lollypop negative/positive reinforcements into the remake as the class wouldn't make any sense without them. even the early trashnime was able to sneak in a whip being used in this manner
