>>13387055Soon after I got Sapphire and my own Gameboy Advanced. Love the hell out of it and the game so much that I ended up getting Ruby and Emerald too. Still though I played the game like a 7 year old with just an overleveled starter, because I loved Blaziken and I happened to beat the game with him. However, I still didn't know how to play the game and never really immersed myself in what I was doing. I didn't even know all of the type combinations and only knew the common ones off the top of my head. I was the typical "Blaze Kick on everything" kid.
Gen 3 came and went and I kind of faded out of the Pokemon fandom. Eventually Diamond and Pearl were released. I didn't really care for how the new Pokemon looked, but had fond memories of Pokemon from my childhood and didn't hate the series, so I thought I'd pick up Diamond and rekindle my childhood. My play style hadn't much changed. I beat gen 4 games with an overleveled starter and a team of legendaries. It came and went, and I remained as casual as ever.
It was then I discovered 4chan and at the time the BW hype was just begining. Again I was recalled to how I loved Pokemon as a child, and thought I should monitor Gen 5 as it played out. I didn't come to /vp/ often, but I saw the starters, the new Pokemon, some of the theories.
