I've seen people want Serena because they think she's sexy, or because the idea of Ash having a little girlfriend really just tickles their pickle, but to argue that she's more fun than Goh is just special, hats off.
Goh's been fun since day one. Where Serena creams herself seeing Ash take a dangerous leap off a building, Goh is taking the exact same leap at the exact same time as Ash, onto Lugia's back. Goh wants to adventure to further his own goals, not follow someone around.
And for being entertaining? There are few characters not named Ash who fall victim to more physical comedy than Goh. Since he's a boy, they can show him going through the wringer, and in some episodes the guy has to withstand some Tom and Jerry level shit as he tries to catch Pokemon. They're not afraid to write him into comedic situations, unlike the dainty, ineffectual Serena, who is just a perfect doll who can't be depicted doing anything outrageous.
