Except instead of beating them unconscious, he tazes them into submission with sci-fi rings. Instead of stuffing them in a Pokeball, he stuffs them in tiny cages- which, a Pokeball shrinks them down first, so for all we know the Pokeball is actually far more spacious on the inside. And instead of sending them in a PC to rot so that you can complete a dex, they're explicitly going to be sitting around all day in an airship as part of this guy's collection.
Also, literally nothing ever indicates that the guy had any plans to put them in larger cages. Nothing, nada, zilch. Hell, if he did have those plans, where would he put cages large enough for it to be comfortable, in a fucking airship?
