>>52821493I think part of it is that the NovelAI software/SD add-on people like to use for anime defaults to sterile shading, the other half is a skill issue with people not working enough to get the images looking right. For example, here I have an AI image from Niji-Journey, prompted specifically in order to generate in the style of a retro anime screenshot. I then fixed up some big mistakes using AI inpainting and the smaller ones in like 5 minutes with a little bit of redrawing. The only thing I haven't fixed yet is the Coca Cola logo in the back.
