This is the case with the footage of Ash we've seen. Now it's not the case with the rest of the footage so either it's just that they're not used to his new look or it's one of their less skilled animators.
Remember this shot was the way people thought Ash's eyes were going to look for most of Best Wishes. It was in the first bit of footage we saw of him just like what's happening now.
