Seriously explain why they can't increase the generation length by a year.

Gen 3 was 4 years. Gen 4 was 4 years. Why can't we go back? They still sell assloads of games, Pokemon cards, stickers, and backpacks even on years without a new gen. Aren't there enough kids that are young enough that old Pokémon are new to them? Have a Rayquaza big event in Pokemon Go and feature Rayquaza in an anime 3 parter and maybe a side game like Coloseum to sell Rayquaza merch. Boom. Bought Gamefreak some time.
