Been choosing grass types for my first play through since Red and Blue. Picked a Chikorita in Gold and loved him.
When HGSS came I out I was so excited to return to pokemon. Picked my starter got a female Chikorita.
Holy shit, she was a beast. A body slamming, Leech Seeding, Ancient Powering, Giga Draining Beast. I used a friend's TM (back when you could trade them) to teach her Giga Drain early and she became an cruel unkillable warrior-of-attrition.Once we found the leftovers... forget it. You're done.

(As a side note, Mega-Venusaur is becoming this for me also. I love the slow fight).
