Nintendo removes them because they consider it competition to their full price products and if there's competition then that means Nintendo has to work harder which a no-go for Pokemon, their budget series franchise that makes AAA-caliber sales. If someone made a Pokemon fangame that looked better than SwSh and had more content than SwSh you bet your ass Nintendo would be quick to C&D it simply because it could hurt sales by having a free alternative that's superior.
Sonic and Pokemon are actually pretty similar in the sense that both developers have no idea what to do moving forward and fans continue to express their grievances towards the lower quality of their recent titles. The only difference is the Sonic fanbase is trying to fix the problems themselves while the Pokemon fanbase is left to just accept the mediocrity because Nintendo is incredibly anti-fangame and crushes anything they see as a potential threat to their games making as much profit as possible.
