I can't remember exactly how this went or the exact order of events, but I'll try my best:
>be playing X
>just completed the National Dex, got the Shiny Charm
>change profile message to something like "Shiny Charm GET"
>soon enough, "Passerby Billy (let's call him Billy, I forget his name) wants to trade!"
>alright whatever
>go into trade
>pretty sure he shows me a Pokemon named something like SHNYCHRMPLS (if not, his intention was to somehow get the charm from me regardless)
>realize he doesn't know it's a key item
>quit the trade
>get a shout-out from him, says something like "TRADE SHINY CHARM PLS"
>Pretty sure I try to shoutout to say it's a key item only
>Billy keeps sending me shout-outs and trade requests saying he wants the charm
>catch a random Pokemon in the route nearby and call it something along the lines of "CHMKEYITMONLY" or whatever would fit in the 12charlimit to get the idea across
>show him it in a trade and quit once again since he still hasn't gotten the idea
>figure it's all done
>Billy STILL keeps sending me shout outs and trade requests for it
>enter another trade and quit to accept him as a friend (or did so in the one before incase this happened?) so I can tell him by voice it isn't tradeable since he STILL doesn't get it
>send a voicechat request
>Billy's voice comes on
>Billy can only be 10 at the oldest, his voice tells me he hasn't hit puberty yet
>Billy says something like "Hello?"
> say something like "The Shiny Charm is a key item and isn't tradeable, I'm sorry"
>I can tell Billy really wanted to believe
>Billy either just says "Oh" or gets really quiet and we end the chat
Billy, I'll give you the benefit of a doubt because you were younger and probably misunderstood, but surely you could've looked up a little more info about the Shiny Charm?
