With Gothitelle, it’s pretty easy to see that it’s supposed to be “Gardevoir, but dark and edgy” just by looking at its design, and it’s lore helps to cement that idea even further. They even appeared together in the anime. The only way it could be more clear is if some character started screaming “THESE TWO POKEMON ARE SISTER SPECIES”. It’s incredibly obvious this is what they were trying to do.
