I really like grass types' emphasis on health-related moves like giga drain, leech seed (which is my favorite move), and synthesis. I also like how the amount of status moves that grass types usually learn. Probably helps that green is my favorite color too.
In regards to Torterra, I really like turtles; they're one of my favorite animals. I really like the way the evolution progresses, from the sapling to the bushes to the full on tree. I also generally like to favor defensive classes in RPGs, so I like the fact that it's tanky is a big plus. It's also a combination of my two favorite types and my two favorite colors.
