The only "trolling" I recall is Serena narrating Premier's episode and freaking the fuck out that she was going to lose Ash to another girl. And, technically, she still freaked out and got relieved when the girl didn't actually want Ash.
Of course one could say the tag "A love rival appears!?" ended up being all in Serena's head, so they same could be true for the date.
