Funny thing is, Japanese still pride Pokemon as a national symbol of sort. They display Pokemon all over the national airports for travelers to see when they arrive. Moving from the roots of being Japanese centric was a really stupid fucking move.

They were represented as such in fucking cartoons. At some point they even directly just started making parodies that emphasized how uniquely different Japanese culture was.
