Yo, anime fans, I've got a close acquaintance of mind who works at OLM, and she's given me some information regarding the direction the anime's heading in during the switch to XY. No solid names or episode titles I'm able to share due to confidentiality reasons, or information regarding any new Pokemon she's seen, as that's under lock and key, but rather general plot information she knows.
*Nothing really exciting happens during the DA Arc except for the next bullet point. There's no new captures, evolutions, or anything beyond setting up Iris and Cilan's departure. Iris will be heading towards Johto to the Dragon's Den to complete her Dragon Master training, and Cilan ends up deciding to become a "Sommelier Captain", starting a restaurant ship with Burgundy to see the world and train his skills. However, they remain till the end of Best Wishes, going to Kanto for a bit before going their separate ways.
*Butterfree does indeed return, as Ash crosses paths with it during its migration. Ash must help save the Butterfree though as they end up on an island full of gigantic Heatmor.
*The Last Arc of Best Wishes is the Okido (Oak) Grand Prix taking place in Pallet Town. Oak decides to host a tournament for the Pallet Town citizens where they can use Ash's reserves, in order to help them relieve some stress and get some training in, so it's a battle between Ash's Reserves. Ash and Pikachu enter, as does Iris and Cilan, who are paired with Gible and Muk respectively. Unknown how it plays out exactly.
*The XY Anime will feature Ash and Pikachu, alongside three new characters: a female lead who is a haughty aristocrat, her butler, an old man who serves as comedy relief and the Brock/Cilan role it appears, and a boy who is a mechanical genius who creates inventions for Ash to use. The series is said to go for a different tone than Best Wishes, with Ash regularly calling upon his reserves being a major change.
