gen 1 had a reptile thing with a flaming tail, another with a plant growing out of its back and a turtle who grows cannons on its shoulders
this upcoming gen has a plain owl, a seal and a house cat.
not really what I would call pocket monsters.
I would not be surprised if the whole gen looks like common animals with nothing that would make them any different from what we see in a zoo.
