However, Mr Rime comes back and Dynamaxes. Infernape is close to fainting but activates Blaze, and ties with Dmax Mr Rime. Mr Rime goes down first, while Infernape falls down a second after but is caught by Ash. Infernape is the MVP of this fight.
Leon is down to only Charizard, while Ash still has Gengar and the other Pokemon. (similar to the Kukui fight where Ash had Naganadel and Pikachu left vs Tapu Koko).
Ash calls Gengar first, who's visibly exhausted. Gengar GMaxes to deal lots of damage to Charizard, and while Zard is pushed back, Leon manages to have Zard outlast the GMax and deals a finishing blow to Gengar.
We're down to the last Pokemon.
Everyone thinks he's gonna use Pikachu, who's beside him, last, but he surprises everyone by pulling out a Pokeball. They think it's gonna be Lucario, but Alain, Diantha, and Steven can't believe their eyes. It's fucking Gekkouga.
Leon GMaxes Charizard immediately, while Ash surprises everyone with their unique bond transformation, especially Goh, who now realizes what Ash meant that day they visited Kalos. (note that Ash considers Bond Phenomenon equal to Mega Evolution, and does not use other gimmicks besides Gmax and BP to play by the rules).
Basically, the OP lied to us with cool visuals, as usual, and it confirms this whole buildup from SM to PM was the Kalos League apology all along.
