The international release/anime did it better by having player matched to Charizard (Red), rival matched to Blastoise (Blue), and girl matched to Venusaur.But just like how barry fits with a fire monkey, red matches venusaur (serious and unamused), blue charizard (cocky and grandiose) and leaf blastoise (cool and normal).
