At least half of people in our generation (assuming you're millennial) had parents that divorced or were never married and so grew up with one parent and a revolving door of abusive step-parent figures
I'd only have children after marriage too so I feel you on that and I don't blame you for feeling the way you do
it's kinda refreshing to see some people striving for more family-oriented ideas in today's world
