Closing thoughts, forgive me for the length:
Overall Rating: 6-7/10, I would play again but probably not soon
Level design was cool but walking through the same exact shitty-to-navigate areas to backtrack for postgame gates was pretty irritating. And the ice mountains are notably bad as well.
I enjoyed half of the music tracks but the other half were just distracting and God just let me turn the fucking GHOST MUSIC OFF STOP WITH THE SHITTY SPOOKY MUSIC SHUT UP. I liked the music around the city becoming more upbeat as the city is restored, as well.
Plot: My good friend Alakazam had thoughts about it but asked me not to share them.
Characters: Half of them had half-baked development and the other half got too much, for better or worse. Fern flipflopped too quickly, Victoria stopped being a character past the first dojo visit, and I really don't know why I should care about Lumi or Eve at all.
Puzzles: I think the single best puzzle in the game was the chess strength puzzle where you could see the entire problem on a single screen, analyze it without having to interact with it, and then solve it. As for the worst, Victory road. Giratina doesn't even count as a puzzle in my mind as much as an obstacle you need to follow a guide for.
Gameplay: I think the most fun I had battling was around the mid-late game where I had to come up with actual solutions, check terrain synergies, etc. As much as I love her, I doubt I'd use Lycanroc on a second playthrough.
Final thoughts:
There really should've been a handy dandy new world area that acted as fast travel between the many gates once you've completed them. Or at least let the player teleport/dig back to a flyable area. There is NO reason I should have to walk ALL the way up and down Mewtwo's area like seven Goddamn times after having to walk all the way over to the gate from the cove every single time
