I have always thought that first stagers, unless its pre-evolved form was released AFTER gen II, could not breed.
Meaning: Whenever I bred Pokemon in gen V, I'd evolve them to their second stage and toss them in the Day-Care. My first breeding project was Garchomp so I'd fly to Route Twelve, faint two or three fucking Audino to evolve it to Gabite, and then put it in.
I always thought breeding things like stone evolutions were staggeringly hard. Volcarona, Braviary, Bisharp, things that evolved at a high level - nope, didn't attempt to breed them.
