I can understand the skirt, the original was honestly too short to be running around in and without the belt looks very plain and boring, but why the rest? There's trainers with mid drift even in the Western versions of the game so clearly it's not "too sexy" for the non-Japanese audiences, and the rest seems like extra work for the sake of making extra work.
