BUT
For some reason, out of the hundreds of powers, the first four get most of the attention, they get new recolors, tons of merchandise depicting Kirby using those four powers again and again. Suddenly a new Kirby game comes out, adding a few more powers, but now the first four have even more attention, including new colors for the explosions, and a spike move that's bigger than the original spike move, etc.
Now we're 8 games and a fuckton of spinoffs down the road, and those four powers have more merchandise, more attention, more screentime in the Kirby anime, etc. than 99% of the rest of the powers.
Excuse the odd analogy.For real, though, Gen 1 is unironically my least favorite gen, and I'm a 30 year old who started with Pokemon Blue.
I hate that Gen 1 gets so much attention, I wish they'd share the love around with some of the other gens.
