Venusaur shouldn't be able to hop around like a frog because literally everything we know about it, from the pokedex to the moves it can learn, never hint at even the slightest frog-influence. Only in one (1) version of Chinese, a language which was included only in Gen 7 and thus cannot be used as evidence, because everyone's understanding of Venusaur and the Bulbasaur line come way before SM.
