Meanwhile Gold is very street smart, even borderline criminal in his town, only getting away with it because he's the funny trickster meme guy. So he could easily take Ruby's spot as Sapphire's savvier counterpart, helping her survive in a confusing cityscape. Sapphire won't get scammed when she's with Gold, because Gold IS the scammer. Which is why a theoretical Gold/Sapphire relationship will feel more complete than a Sapphire/Platinum relationship. Of course in canon Sapphire's barely interacted with Gold by herself, at least on screen (on page?), and she's never even met Platinum, so this is all just literal fanfic.
Anyway the location thing is also part of why most femdom Sapphire content is set in the jungle, not in urban settings. Because she only knows what she's doing when she's in the wild, but when outside of it she's a fish out of water. In the jungle, (You)'re her pet; but in an apartment building, she's probably the pet instead.
