If I may be frank for a moment, Niantic really needs to add more unique bonuses to megas besides same-type extra candy before I use them for more than just community day farming. Mechanically, there’s not much reason to use a lot of megas since others outclass them, especially when they’re mono-type and not dual-type. Thematically, it would really suit Pokemon like Mega Audino do get extra stardust for various things if not just same type catches, and Mega Kangaskhan giving twice the damage boost in raids.
It feels bad knowing that my favorite mega, Mega Glalie, will just be a waste of a raid pass for most people since it’s outclassed in every way by Mega Abomasnow except in lack of weaknesses, which really doesn’t matter that much in the end. At best they could make Mega Abomasnow energy extremely rare and Mega Glalie energy plentiful, which would feel just as bad, if not worse.
