Fairy are like Ghosts but with no malice, they're mischievous and chaotic with a different set of morals that don't adhere to mortals.
Image if a Fairy trapped you in an eternal game of hide and go seek you could never win surrounded by endless fog and illusion, or shrunk you down and refused to ever turn you back to your regular size cause they were bored and wanted a playmate, or turned you into a plant.
Thats pretty much what Pixies do in FFXIV, they're a force to be feared if you're inexperienced in dealing with these spirits of dead children.
Even the Pokemon Games make implications theres a very creepy side to fairy types.
