Match color scheme as closely as possible, or match theme if colors aren't gonna work (lunala in moon ball, dive ball for relicanth, etc). If neither can be matched and nothing is close then I give up and use whatever. Sometimes I do resource management/catching challenge runs where I catch everything available in-game with specific balls (Crystal run with apricorn balls only is gonna be my next project.)
