I think had they come out along their original evos there might've been a chance I'd be ok with them - if you hold Electivire as its own Pokemon, e.g., and not as a necessary Electabuzz evo, I'm ok with the guy - but going off in a different direction ("Gen 4-ing") Pokemon you've long gotten used to as their ultimate forms is an indelicate handling of something that needs a little bit of marketing finesse.
