Lore wise the Sinnoh Folk Stories can be believed, because its the only time they've addressed the subject matter at all amd the only explicit mention that Pokemon and humans mixed at some point.
It does make sense, Humans in the Pokemon universe are clearly stronger than your average Human on earth. Its pretty likely Pokemon and Humans have some ancestory in their blood. Also a ton of pokemon are just humans but changed into Pokemon. Like Kadabra and Frostlass.
