beat the bug gym. Did they not mention anything about the guy's aura? Maybe it had something to do with how he mantained a fuckton of bugs. Either way it's definitely getting expanded, they are her main opposition.
Besides that, I've seen the bug element depicted in fics as some alien and incomprehensible mind whenever psychics try their mind-fuckery on them, justifying their type advantage. They can signify plague too, I guess. The all-consuming swarm of locusts ravaging the fields, bringing everything to ruin and becoming more to boot. The ever-hungry, ever-multiplying. Oh, and I guess they're also growth because of how fast they mature. And I guess it's the 'hero' type in Japan.
