Falkner is best fit with a proud/elegant bird like Pidgeotto. If you HAVE to switch Pidgey out for something, give him Doduo. It's agile and fits him. I'd say Skarmory is fine, but it's way too early for that. The Hoothoot line is already used heavily by the Sprout Tower monks. The manga and anime honestly depicted him best. He has a Hoothoot in the anime but Pidgeot and Dodrio are clearly the stars of the battle.
