i think him being a wagie and taking his job seriously can be attractive to most people since it shows he's hardworking. most of his pokemon are either cute or derpy pokemon which makes him gap moe since he's got a serious disposition. he's a bit of a comical character as well (gets interrupted by hassel a lot, rika has to shout for hassel to come into the E4 room because larry can't shout, aware of his own wage slaving)
