One of my biggest problems with RSE was always that you need Good Rod to find all the good Hoenn Water-types like Wailmer, Barboach, and Carvanha, but in order to get Good Rod you already have to use Surf, at which point you probably already have a surfer, not to mention that you've beaten over half of the game. I don't want to use Pokebank during my first playthrough, so I'd like to know whether I can find any decent Hoenn Water-types (preferably Wailmer or Sharpedo) during the first half of the game.
Another thing that I've been thinking is the availability of Mega Stones. What Mega Stones can I find during the main game and at which point? I could use Sableye if I can find the Mega Stone at some earlyish part of the game. Other than that, I've been trying to use Pokemon that I haven't had in my team before in any other game. Here's what I have been planning:
>Blaziken
>Ludicolo / Breloom
>Swalot
>Aggron
>Exploud / Some Water-type
>Something that flies (Latias? Flygon?)
