Maybe instead of them already accepting her free spirit nature, that could've been an arc to play out in the story, where she struggles between meeting her family's expectations and being true to herself.
And just like how her family would have to learn to accept this is who she is, Nemona could've in turn had an arc of learning to accept that most others aren't as obsessed with battling as she is, and to respect that.
