Take all the Pokeball designs off the female protags, put them in one image, show them to people who don't know much about Pokemon and ask them:
"Which one of these girls is a Pokemon character?"
They will 100% of the time pick Hilda.
And do you know why?
Because the other female protags just look like generic anime girls once you take away the Pokeball designs that some of them have on their hats, shirts and bags.
Hilda just has that Pokemon aesthetic.
Maybe it's because she's dressed closest to Ash (with Misty's hot pants) and literally everyone associates the anime with the franchise if even subconsciously.
Maybe its just the general sporty vibe she resonates.
I don't know but she looks the most like a Pokemon trainer.
