I've been saying this for years. I'm pretty sure that a big part of why some people skipped Gen 5 is because it was so similar to the other DS titles as a game. No major changes to the basic combat system which people thought was becoming stale. Its just Gen 4 but faster.
>>51425371>This is nu-Pokemon brainwashing and revisionismNo, it really isn't. Ruby/Sapphire introduced passive Abilities, 2v2 Battles, and Natures. Diamond/Pearl had the Phys/Spec. split. Major changes to the battle and training systems that have stuck with the series to this day. Gen 5 had....3v3 Battles? But you never have to play them during the story. Unlike say Tate/Liza's Gym which is entirely made of Double Battles, or Colosseum which is all Double Battles, VGC is Double Battles, etc. Triple Battles had a very minor presence in Gen 5, and were eventually just dropped from the series altogether. I don't remember anything else that the game added, except for Hidden Abilities I guess. If you were willing to spend 1 hour a day on the Dream World.
