Why are the trainers after Gardenia so low level for so long in Diamond and Pearl?
I'm not trying to be a level curve complainer, I'm genuinely asking if you guys can glean some sort of logical design from this detail because I've played Diamond a few times by now and I always recall being super overleveled for the midgame, even though the level curve is fine before Gardenia and catched up by Fantina.
Take Picrel for example. There's 38 trainer battles available between Gardenia and this route, yet even though Gardenia's pokemon are level 19-22, the trainers on this route have pokemon between levels 14-19. I'll admit Gardenia is a bit of a level spike, but by Hearthome City my team is always in the mid-20s, soaring over everything else around that point. Platinum even adjusted the level curve to match this, begging the question of why exactly it was designed this way in Diamond and Pearl?
