>>45253692(Your) disappointment means nothing to me personally, but yes I'd rather have that than absolutely nothing. There is absolutely no possible way you can argue that the ashnime is better when something only happens once every episode. Maybe you just aren't aware of the scope of this, but one episode is on average 20 minutes. Probably more with OP/ED, but let's assume those are skipped, as EDs usually are.
3 episodes in one hour, and let's be generous and say you have a lot of free time, patience and will power and spend 5 hours a day watching Ash's adventures of finding out what's making this wild Gulpin so sad. That's 15 episodes a day, or 105 a week. The finale of Ash vs Paul is episode 654, probably a few less than the English version because of cut episodes, so let's say 650 episodes total is the goal to see all of Ash's development throughout the anime.
It would take you a little over 6 weeks, or nearly a month and a half to do this.
The original arc of Special is 3 volumes. Even some of the slowest readers could probably read a volume in a few hours. So, give it a day per volume. That's 3 days to receive far more characterisation, development and plot than the anime can achieve in 650 episodes, at much higher quality too. There is simply no comparison, and it isn't even the anime's fault really, its for an audience that doesn't care about any of that shit. It doesn't try any of that stuff because that isn't its intended purpose, it's meant to be something a kid can jump into at any time and understand, which is cool.
But this is why it's so fucking weird that /vp/ has a large amount of people that defend this anime and claim it to be better than the games, or the manga or whatever else.
