The many bugs in Prism's leaked build do hurt the game in my opinion, and I feel it's a real shame that the C&D prevents them from getting fixed outside unofficial fan patches. Even in its state on 12/21 without any fixes for the patches, and me needing to debug my way around a couple game-breaking bugs, I had way more fun than SM. Prism has old-school region design and old-school narrative design, and lacks all the bullshit that I hate about Gen 6 and 7 and to a lesser extent Gen 5, while still having a lot of the gameplay improvements like the phys/spec split and abilities. It even gave me the nostalgia of revisiting the region from the first Pokémon hack I ever played after you beat the E4 and get the Rijon Pass. If it had the polish it deserves but can never receive due to C&D, it would be without a doubt the most well-made ROMhack we've ever gotten for a Pokémon game.
