The final form was pic related after being modifed from beta Ivysaur.

Notice how Venusaur originally had black spots and sharp eyes like Ivysaur. until the faggot Sugimori changed it into the warty venusaur we know.

So according to the Gen1 beta leaks, this sprite was left from the beta rom.
That's why it's too different from the actual artwork of Venusaur.
Gamefreak was too lazy they didn't even bother to update the sprites and decided to let the beta sprites be in the finale games?
what were they thinking?

It make sense when you look at the front sprite.
that back sprite is based on the Japanese front sprite, that's why it looks weird in the western versions.

For me, Green's Venusaur was the best.
It looked menacing, a pure monster looking one, not goofy or sleepy or high or anything.
it looks like it's there for your blood.
Also loved how it had dark patches like its prevos instead of pimples. Gamefreak should have made this the canon design over Sugimori's one.
