If Ash returns to Kanto for a League arc he'll likely be using all his past mons to fight the revamped Kanto Gyms. But at the same time the anime needs to promote the games so unless they give Eevee to his female travel partner while he uses Pikachu giving him an Eevee that could evolve into tons of different combinations - or an Ash exclusive Eeveelution since the anime fucking loves doing that - would be the safest bet.
You know what? Fuck it, I could easily see them giving him a exclusive Eevee form. A Dragon, Flying, Fighting type Eevee exclusive to him.
