pretty certain arven mentions this, also if pokeballs can travel through time without entropy destroying their contents, humans have the technology to travel themselves if Pokemon can only shrink instead of being converted to 'energy'.
I personally only believe in imagination theory because it means Spiral Energy is canon to the Pokemon universe.
