I wonder what a good, balanced story would look like? It'd have to so carefully goddamn crafted. Even a Mystery Dungeon style story put into the main series would just seem edgy despite it not seeming edgy in PMD, it's just the aura the games have, and the reputation the ROMhacks have.
I genuinely think it'd be impossible to make a moving story in a romhack. There's just too much shit as precedent that a romhack's story can never be taken seriously, like Dark Rising.
