It wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't clearly shown that they were capable of doing it. You start the game off without one, the rivals get one, and all the hairstyles are fully modeled underneath the hats. They chose NOT to. Literally someone in the development team though it was a good idea to give the protagonists beards and "skin treatments", but said no to taking the hat off. It's mind boggling. People are even defending this saying that trainers and hats are inseparable, but Battle Revolution gave us the choice to take hats off years ago. Clearly GameFreak doesn't think that way. It's just pure, unadulterated, mind boggling stupidity. Nothing else.
