It's been with me as long as I can remember. Pokemania was magical, as others have said. Watching the anime, buying the vhs tapes, going to the theater to see the movie, ect. Can't forget the trading cards. Opening packs with my dad seeing what we got, and getting the structure decks when they came out. I've been told playing the card game, and game helped me learn to read. Playing through a pokemon game as a kid with a parent is a nice bonding experience.
I'm remembering just how popular pokemon was. Kids in the class room talking about the new ruby/sapphire games coming out. Even diamond/pearl leaks were a big thing, and I remember seeing the starters for the first time in the computer lab during school. Lots of other kids still played it. Even when it wasn't as "cool", you'd still see people playing stuff like FR/LG on their phones.
I'm glad to have gotten to experience Pokemania, and Pokemon in general. It's responsible for a lot of good memories of mine.
