This game fucking sucks but the progression and lead up to your battle with Arven is the best writing and scenario planning any Pokemon game has ever had. Your friendship with him culminates in this epic and explosive way that they've never been able to capture and never will again. Squaring up against all the Pokemon that you teamed up with one by one was just so satisfying.

Wasn't he supposed to be weaker than most people? I had more problems with him than Nemona or Penny for some reason. No i don't like to spam healing items.

Gen 9 and its not even close.

They're all really strong trainers in their own right. None of them are pushovers.
The last 3 gens' rivals have all been waaay weaker story-wise. Like wtf did Shauna or Hop do? Any of Gen 9's rivals could beat the shit outta all of them.
Least favorite is Gen 6's. All of them are gimmicky as fuck and don't do anything. I don't even remember half of their names.
