A totally hipster bullshit game that's done in the old gameboy style. You can play it in black and white or the gameboy color style pallettes.
The game features 100 new pokemon and some from gen 1 and 2 with a pokedex of 151.
Its game play is styled after old school NES rpgs and is meant to be grindy and tough. As you progress through the game simplicity starts to drop. You'll find you'll have to chain breed moves on to pokemon to make them viable and to beat gym leaders.
Lots of deeply hidden secrets. Some pokemon so well hidden most people will not now methods for uncovering them. Same goes for some items. like Super Mario 2(lost levels) or zelda master quest type stuff.
The game takes place in a mostly unpopulated area. It's a site that was hit with nuclear weapons and most have exacuated. It's safe to transverse now, the technology has helped clean up the radiation, but still few people live there. Other trainers flock there for the pokemon and the challenge. It eventually connects to the indigo plateau. Characters like Will, Karen and Lorelei would be gym leaders. As this takes place near in time and location to johto and kanto. Team rocket resurfaces looking for mutated pokemon. An ever rarerer version of shiny pokemon are introduced. Pokemon may have an altered glow when they enter battle and a 3rd color variation, but there's only a 1/32,000 chance of this happening.
You sometimes enter extremely irradiated zones. Which turns the console into a homage for virtual boy. It activates the 3D and turns everything red and black. Here you look for lost items, pokemon and general mini game.
Some battles would include events or active environments causing more dynamics. Things that do more damage or effects to your pokemon, giving the enemy an edge. As your pokemon is hurt by the fire around it, or the falling rocks.
Themes of survival and apocalyptic elements. The few towns you find are very isolated cultures.
