I was thinking that it could be Ghost type and that what people mistake for a blue tongue is actually a ghost or spirit controlling or living within the lizard, similar to the symbiotic relationship between Slowbro and Shellder. The lizard shelters the ghost and the ghost pops out and fights on behalf of the lizard because the lizard is retarded and has no survival instinct. Probably why it let a fucking ghost possess it in the first place.
