>>46473395Just don't touch any games past 2013 (X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee and Sword and Shield) and you're gucchi. Those games from Generation VI (6) to VIII (8) are what we consider the Dark Ages of Pokémon. I assume most of this thread has already sufficiently shilled some mixture of Emerald, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Black 2 and White 2. You easily get the best of all Gens I (1) through V (5) in just those 4 games. I personally have a soft-spot for FireRed and LeafGreen even though they are outdated. If it were up to me, I would recommend that one as your first game but only so you get context for how the series has evolved over time.
And as always, emulators are the best way to enjoy them. The GBA carts are flooded with fakes on the market and the DS carts are insanely expensive now so don't bother.
